File Forwarding Policy

When an applicant registers for a match and has indicated that they have participated in a previous CaRMS match:

  • Within the last 7 years:
    • Ops will instruct IT to forward their application information and select documents from their previous account to their current CaRMS Online account. (i.e., for the 2018 match year, we file forward applicants from 2011 matches or later.)
    • NEW as of 2019 matches (2020 SSRM): NOT all documents will be forwarded, only the MSPR, medical school transcript and medical school diploma.
  • More than 7 years:
    • Ops will not have IT forward their previous application information or documents to their new CaRMS Online account.
    • Ops will send an email to inform these applicants that they will not have their previous application materials available in their CaRMS Online account.
      • The email text will be sent to you, for your information, once we have finalized it.
    • Exceptions can be made at the request of the applicant via email to operations@carms.ca, however please note:
      • Only if the applicant has not participated to a match yet, can we forward their application information and select documents – if available.
      • If an applicant has already participated in a match, IT cannot forward their application data. Ops will coordinate with Docs, to for transfer the applicants documents: MSPR, medical school transcript and medical school diploma, if available.
