Internal notes: Auto assignment of Casper and FMProC scores

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all submitted information in their applications is correct and that all required documents and scores have been assigned.

Auto assignment of Casper/FMProC scores

The score will be automatically assigned by the system to most applications that require it, however, there may be cases where the score is not automatically assigned which means the applicant must assign the score manually or through the mass assignment function.

For example:

• If the applicant is applying to bilingual programs; or
• The applicant has two scores (i.e. an English and French score).

If the Casper/FMProC score is ingested into an applicant's account after they have submitted their applications, auto assignment can still occur if it meets the business logic.

Auto assignment no longer works once file review has opened.

When an applicant unassigns an automatically assigned score

Applicants can unassign a score that was automatically assigned to a program BUT once the score is unassigned, it will not be re-assigned automatically. The applicant MUST then re-assign the score to the program.

Email received by applicants when a score is uploaded to their account

Applicants receive an automatic message from CaRMS when their casper/fmproc score is uploaded to their account. We requested an update to this message to reflect current business logic (i.e. auto assignment). Unfortunately, this update won’t take place until the IT roll out in January. For your awareness, Applicants will receive the existing message when their score is ingested:

"You are now able to access your test information under the Examinations section and assign this result to programs that require it in the Applications to Programs section in CaRMS Online."

Should an applicant reach out to you confused because their score shows as auto-assigned in their application, you can reassure them that there is no further action they need to take.
