MCC - Diploma shared through PA for CMGs Issue

There is an issue with PA when a CMG applicant attempts to share their diploma. Only a few applicants would be affected of course.

Issue: When a CMG shares their medical school diploma with CaRMS through physiciansapply.ca, they may receive the message below:

Explanation: Canadian medical school applicants for which PA has received verification of graduation will automatically receive an empty spot (MCC calls it a “bucket”) for their diploma. The applicant is expected to upload an image of their diploma but it is not mandatory to do so. This empty spot can be shared with CaRMS but CaRMS will not accept a document that has no image.

The applicant’s options: 

  • upload their diploma to their physiciansapply.ca account and then transfer to CaRMS again or
  • upload their diploma directly to CaRMS Online

For the moment, this issue is going to continue to happen, apparently PA/MCC has been getting calls about it so OPS is seeing if we can update the error text for CMGs only to indicate what they should do to remedy the situation. Until then, please give them the options outlined above.
